Our Story

When our two oldest children were diagnosed with celiac disease at age 3 and 5, our world felt like it had been turned upside down. Suddenly every meal, every grocery trip, and every vacation felt like a massive navigational puzzle. Especially considering at this young age all they wanted to eat was pasta, chicken nuggets and crackers!

Fast forward 7 years and our celiac children Penny and Jojo are now 12 and 10 and we have a non-celiac 4 year old in the mix, Freya. GF Mom was born out of a desire to share our tips and tricks and travel notes to make the journey easier for other families.

We believe that living gluten-free doesn't mean you have to sacrifice the simple joys of a beautiful meal or the thrill of traveling to a new city. Through trial and error, endless research and lots of label reading, I've curated a space to share our favorite travel destinations, trustworthy and delicious products and experiences navigating social situations effectively.

While I share our lived family experiences, every medical fact, symptom guide, and nutritional claim on this site is cross-referenced with trusted institutions like the Cleveland Clinic, the Celiac Disease Foundation, National Celiac Association, the FDA and the non-profit organization Beyond Celiac.
